UltraLocked

Authentication

Using Face ID or Touch ID

UltraLocked leverages your device's Secure Enclave to verify your identity using Face ID or Touch ID. Your biometric data is never seen by the app or stored anywhere outside of Apple's secure hardware chip.

How Biometric Authentication Works in UltraLocked

When you open UltraLocked, the app asks the iOS operating system a simple "Yes" or "No" question: "Is this the authorized owner of the device?"

  1. iOS takes over and presents the Face ID or Touch ID prompt.
  2. Your biometric data is processed entirely within the Secure Enclave, a separate, encrypted processor on your device's chip.
  3. The Secure Enclave returns a simple "Yes" or "No" answer back to iOS.
  4. iOS then informs UltraLocked whether the authentication was successful.

Key Security Guarantees

  • Zero Access: At no point does UltraLocked (or any other app) have access to your actual face scan or fingerprint data. This information is physically isolated in hardware.
  • On-Device: The entire verification process happens on your device and is never transmitted over a network.
  • Hardware-Level Security: Because this process is tied to the Secure Enclave, it is protected from software-based attacks.

Enabling or Disabling Biometric Access

You can control whether UltraLocked is allowed to use biometrics.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Navigate to "Face ID & Passcode" or "Touch ID & Passcode".
  3. Enter your device passcode.
  4. Tap on "Other Apps".
  5. Find UltraLocked in the list and use the toggle to enable or disable access.
