How to Manage Your Subscription

Open the Settings tab → Subscription row to see your current plan and renewal date. To change, upgrade, or cancel, tap into the App Store-hosted management page (or go to iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions).

The Settings tab now surfaces your subscription state directly:

Free Plan — no active subscription. Tap to upgrade.
Premium — active subscription with the renewal date when available.
Premium (Free Trial) — trial active with the trial-end date.
Debug Bypass Active — only appears in development builds; disregard if you see it on a release build (you shouldn't).

The Subscription row sits right under Preferences in the Settings tab.

Subscriptions Are Managed by Apple

UltraLocked does not handle your payment information directly. All subscriptions are processed by Apple via StoreKit, so your financial details stay with Apple. UltraLocked validates each purchase against a backend service before granting entitlements (validation runs before the StoreKit transaction is finished, so a network blip during validation doesn't strand your purchase).

To change, upgrade, or cancel:

Open Settings → Subscriptions on your iPhone or iPad (Apple's iOS Settings app, not UltraLocked).
Find UltraLocked in the list.
Choose a different plan or tap Cancel Subscription to stop renewal at the end of the current period.

Alternatively from inside UltraLocked, tap the Subscription row to open the paywall sheet — it has a Restore Purchases action that re-syncs entitlement state with Apple.

Cancelling vs. Deleting Data

Cancelling your subscription does not delete your vault data. You keep access to Premium features until the end of the billing period. After that you can still open the app and view existing items, but Premium-gated features (Encrypted Export, Crypto Secrets, Secure Camera, Duress Code, Dictation) become unavailable until you resubscribe.

Import is intentionally never gated — even after a subscription lapses, you can still import a .ultralocked bundle to recover your own data.

What Happens When Your Subscription Ends

If your subscription expires:

Your existing files remain safe and encrypted in your vault.
Premium features (Encrypted Export, Crypto Secrets list, Secure Camera, Duress Code, On-Device Dictation) become unavailable until you resubscribe.
.ultralocked Import still works — recovery is never gated.
Free vault items (within the free-tier limit) remain readable.

Sandbox vs Production

Builds installed via Xcode use Apple's sandbox StoreKit environment, not production. Sandbox prompts look real but won't charge your Apple ID. To test purchases end-to-end, set up a sandbox tester in iOS Settings → App Store → Sandbox Account and complete the purchase against that account.
