Core Features
Organizing Your Files
The grid/list toggle and the sort/filter menu live in the top-right of the Vault tab. Sort by date, name, or size; filter by file type; switch between grid and list. All choices persist across launches.
Sorting and Filtering
Open the sort & filter menu by tapping the three-line icon in the Vault tab's top-right toolbar.
The menu has four pickers:
- Sort By — Date Added, Date Modified, Name, or Size.
- Direction — Newest First / Oldest First (or A–Z / Z–A for Name, Largest First / Smallest First for Size). The label adapts to the chosen sort field so it always reads naturally.
- Filter — All Items, Images, Documents, Audio, Videos, or Notes. Restricts which items show in the grid.
- (View mode lives next to this menu — see below.)
Selected values show as checkmarks inside each picker, and your choices persist across app launches.
Switching Between Grid and List
The icon next to the sort/filter button toggles between grid and list layouts. The icon shows the mode you'd switch to — when in grid view it shows a list icon, and vice versa.
- Grid view — thumbnail tiles, ideal for spotting visual content like photos and videos.
- List view — file names plus self-destruct timers, better for managing documents and notes.
Renaming Items
Each file's name appears in the vault grid/list and is the first thing you'll see. Default names depend on the source:
- Photos / Videos — "Photo - Sep 20, 2025 at 10:15 AM"
- Web pages — the page title
- PDFs — document title from metadata or first line
- Notes — whatever you typed in the title field at the top of the editor
To rename:
- Tap the item to open it.
- Tap the title at the top of the editor (or the title bar in detail views).
- Type the new name. Closing the editor (or the auto-save tick) writes the change.
Best Practices for Naming
File contents are encrypted, but file names are part of the vault's metadata. Avoid putting sensitive specifics in titles:
- Good:
Project Phoenix Notes,Vacation Plan,ID Scan - Avoid:
Acme Corp Merger Secrets,My Bank Password is 1234,Confidential Medical Report
What's Next?
- Use Cross-Device Transfer to bundle vault items into a portable encrypted file.
- Set self-destruct timers on items that don't need to live forever.
