Troubleshooting

A File Failed to Import from Another App

File import failures are usually caused by two things: the file is an unsupported format, or the file is too large. Check the file's type and size and try again.

When you use the "Save to UltraLocked" Share Extension, the app performs several checks to ensure the file can be securely stored. If a check fails, the import will be cancelled. Here are the most common reasons.

1. Unsupported File Format

UltraLocked is designed for common personal and document file types. Some proprietary or rare formats are not supported.

Supported Formats Include:

  • Images: JPG, PNG, HEIC
  • Documents: PDF, TXT, DOCX
  • Videos: MP4, MOV

If your file is not on this list, it will be rejected.

2. File is Too Large

To ensure performance and security, UltraLocked has size limits for imported files, which vary by category.

  • Images: Up to 50 MB
  • Documents: Up to 100 MB
  • Videos: Up to 500 MB

If your file exceeds these limits, the import will fail. You can check a file's size using the "Get Info" option in the Files app.

3. Insufficient Device Storage

Although UltraLocked encrypts and compresses files, it still needs free space on your device to perform the import and encryption process.

  • Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage to check your available space.
  • If your device is nearly full, the import may fail. Try freeing up some space and attempting the import again.

A Note on Processing

Remember, files imported via the Share Extension are placed in a secure queue. You must open the main UltraLocked app for the final processing and import into your vault to be completed.
