Troubleshooting
Biometric Authentication Isn't Working
If Face ID or Touch ID fails, first check that it's enabled in both your device's Settings and UltraLocked's Settings. If it's locked out after too many failed attempts, you must unlock with your device passcode first.
If you're having trouble unlocking UltraLocked with biometrics, please follow these troubleshooting steps.
1. Check Your Device Settings
Ensure that Face ID or Touch ID is properly configured on your device.
- Go to your device's Settings app.
- Navigate to "Face ID & Passcode" or "Touch ID & Passcode".
- Make sure that "iPhone Unlock" (or similar) is enabled and that your biometrics are registered.
2. Check UltraLocked's Permissions
Make sure UltraLocked is authorized to use biometric authentication.
- Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode (or Touch ID).
- Tap on "Other Apps".
- Ensure the toggle for UltraLocked is turned on.
3. Check for Biometric Lockout
After several failed biometric attempts, iOS will temporarily disable biometrics for security.
- Symptom: The authentication prompt says "Face ID/Touch ID is disabled" and asks for your passcode.
- Solution: You must successfully unlock your device with its main passcode one time. This will re-enable biometrics for all apps, including UltraLocked.
4. Restart Your Device
Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve issues with the biometric hardware or software.
- Turn your device completely off, wait 30 seconds, and turn it back on.
Using Your PIN as a Backup
If biometrics continue to fail, you can always access your vault by using your main PIN, provided your security level is set to Enhanced or Maximum. The app may prompt you for your PIN after a failed biometric attempt.
